BeatSarcoma is a 501(c)(3) volunteer initiative, launched in 2007 by a sarcoma patient, to help increase awareness about sarcomas, raise funds for research and assist with survivorship issues. Sarcoma is an uncommon cancer that primarily affects children and young adults. It accounts for 20% of kids' cancer cases. It is hard to detect, hard to diagnose and hard to treat. Yet it receives only 1% of funds allocated to cancer research annually.
